My food-related New Year's resolutions? Well, I intend to try some recipes that I've been meaning to do for a long time, such as macaroons and Croatian home made strudel dough. Maybe I will explore savory dishes more, that one would be nice too :)

My food-related New year's Resolution is to call my Mom, and have her dictate her recipe she always used for her Pork Chops --- and then burn it !!! My poor Mom could dry out pork chops like nobody else in this world, and even she will admit it :o)
Seriously though, Happy New Year too, to one and all, even you Mom!

A friend of mine makes this very delicious bread (that is also served at church for communion - it's THAT good!) and I'd like to learn how to make it. I know she has a "starter" in a jar on her kitchen counter. That's all I got, but I'd like to learn the technique and try it myself. Great giveaway! Wonderful blog! Merry (belated) Christmas and cheers for a blessed 2012.

No better way to improve your cooking than getting away from the canned veggies. That was one of our goals when we started Season with Spice.

seasonwithspice said...

Hi Steven, next time your mom makes those overcooked pork chops, just chuck them in a soup with a bunch of fresh vegetables, and simmer for a couple hours. You'll have a new appreciation for your mom's "recipe". Happy New Year!

seasonwithspice said...

That's great, keep those traditional recipes alive. Happy cooking in 2012!

seasonwithspice said...

Thanks Nicole. Homemade bread pieces over the stale wafers? I'm sure this church is very popular. Good luck with the recipe, and have a Happy New Year!

seasonwithspice said...

2011 was a "lost" year in the "healthy lifestyle" area. Not sure what happened but I have decided that 2012 will be a "take back control" and "get my weight loss / weight management back on track". That will mean less fats and salts, leaner meats and more veggies. That also means more spices and spice combinations to make everything taste more appealing. This would be a great start in new spices for my "creations"

Eating less is always the most difficult resolution. We changed ours to eat more! Eat more healthy foods.

Happy New Year to you and your family, Nami!

seasonwithspice said...

Look forward to seeing the veggie recipes you come up with on Katie at the Kitchen Door

seasonwithspice said...

We tried our best to eat less processed food in 2011, and can tell you it is a very reasonable goal if you make the extra time per day to cook. Good luck Suzanne!

seasonwithspice said...

We second that!

seasonwithspice said...

Good luck Courtney, just start with simple recipes and you'll be a cook in no time

seasonwithspice said...

That's a great goal, Joni. Eating more diverse foods is not just healthier, but always a learning experience for the kids too.

seasonwithspice said...

Good luck with the cookbook, Carrie!

seasonwithspice said...

Us too. All the best in 2012!

seasonwithspice said...

If you make the time, you will have no trouble at all. Good luck Lo!

seasonwithspice said...

Hi Tracy, you've come to the right place then. Plenty of unique recipes on Season with Spice - from us and from our contributors around the world featured on our homepage. Good luck with your goal and have fun!

seasonwithspice said...

Love how specific this goal is. Makes it that much easier to accomplish. I think we will all start making homemade waffles if we all read the ingredients of frozen ones. That was one of our resolutions in 2011 - read ingredients at the grocery store. It will change your life. Good luck!

seasonwithspice said...

Good luck Cindy. Even if the first few tries don't turn out perfect, at least your house will have a wonderful aroma. Enjoy that homemade bread!

seasonwithspice said...

Absolutely, good luck Jasanna

seasonwithspice said...

Good luck Kathy!

seasonwithspice said...

Yep, it's all about making that extra time, and planning ahead. Good luck Rosemary, you sound determined enough to make it happen. All the best in 2012

seasonwithspice said...

That's great Betsy, Indian food is so flavorful with all those spices. We have many Indian contributors to Season with Spice, so check our homepage often for Indian recipe ideas. All the best in 2012!

seasonwithspice said...

Whatever it takes (just mince them and they'll never notice). Good luck Sara!

seasonwithspice said...

If you find that perfect tortilla recipe, do let us know. We'd love to give it a try. Good luck in your search!

seasonwithspice said...

Hi Kathie, we like your optimism for 2012. Spices are a wonderful way to start. The more spices you use in your cooking, the less you need of unhealthy salt and sugar to flavor your dishes. We wish you all the best in the New Year!

seasonwithspice said...

Hi Anne, be sure to check the homepage of Season with Spice for recipe ideas. We have many vegetarian contributors. Good luck with your goal!
