Wouldn’t it be great to give away a free trip to Thailand or Vietnam? As our Asian Spice Shop grows, maybe one day:)

But in the meantime, we’ll continue to introduce flavors from the region to take you there, even if it’s just for a meal. And today, that’s Vietnam, with our Vietnamese Spicy BBQ Seasoning

Vietnamese Spicy BBQ Seasoning from SeasonWithSpice.com

Our handcrafted Vietnamese Spicy BBQ Seasoning begins with the warming, sweet elements of Chinese Five Spice like cinnamon and star anise. Then turmeric is mixed in – for its vibrant color and aroma – along with ginger, for their peppery, citrus notes. Finally, to spice things up, dashes of cayenne pepper are blended in to create a delicious, medium-spicy Vietnamese seasoning that matches perfect with a summer favorite like pork chops on the grill.

Inspired by the irresistible, spicy aroma of richly marinated meats grilled at street stalls in Vietnam, our Vietnamese Spicy BBQ Seasoning is a must-have for the grilling season. Simply mix it into a marinade with a few Asian ingredients like soy sauce, rice wine, coconut sugar, sesame oil, and fish sauce (an essential ingredient for anyone wishing to cook Vietnamese dishes at home), and try it on chicken wings & drumsticks, ribs, steak, or in ground meats.

Or use the marinade to make Vietnamese Grilled Pork Chops, served with a refreshing Vietnamese coleslaw with garlic, shallots, mint & cilantro.

 Makes 4 pork chops

Ingredients:
4 bone-in pork chops (about 1/2 inch thick)
Lime wedges for serving

Marinade:
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp rice wine
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1/2 tsp dark soy sauce
2 tsp of Season with Spice’s Vietnamese Spicy BBQ Seasoning
1/2 tbsp of coconut sugar, or your choice of sugar
2-3 cloves of garlic – minced

Method:
1. In a bowl, combine fish sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, dark soy sauce, Vietnamese Spicy BBQ Seasoning, sugar, and garlic.
2. Place the pork chops in a large zip-lock bag and pour in the marinade. Make sure each pork chop is coated well with the marinade. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
3. When you’re ready to grill, remove the pork chops from the marinade, and keep the excess marinade for basting.
4. Serve the grilled pork chops with a couple of lime wedges on the side, along with a Vietnamese-style coleslaw.
