I never did too, but looking at these picture makes me want to go pick it myself. I was fortunate to fine nutmeg with the mace on it. And I have to say, I can't go back to the ones without the shell. When I see how they have them in the market it hurts. They are some tiny dried seed in a bag that looks old. I think they have more character with the mace and shell on.

Thanks for this very interesting article. This fruit and plant are beautiful. I found it while looking for the complete nutmeg fruit. I would like to grow the plant from seed and it is impossible without the mace part apparently. I haven't found a seed company providing this yet. If you know where I could import it from, please let me know.

i drank the juice before in penang, i ate the dried fruit too.
i use the seed to cook,
